Quit day is going to be a mental and physical battle. You'll likely face two formidable enemies: withdrawal symptoms and nicotine cravings.
 
Look at it this way, these foes are signs that you're getting better and that you're on your way to a full recovery.
 
Some short-term symptoms associated with quitting (your recovery) include:
You'll feel the brunt of these symptoms within the first few days of quitting. If you're using nicotine replacement of some kind, the symptoms will be much less intense. If you're not, however, and experience symptoms, you should strongly consider speaking with your doctor about nicotine replacement and other aids to quit smoking. Over a week or two, most of these symptoms should be fairly manageable. You'll feel better and better every day you go without smoking.
