U.S. government scientists are trying to trace the cause of a salmonella outbreak, the Associated Press (AP) reported February 16. About 300 people have become ill since August. Peanut butter is strongly suspected as the source. Officials said people should not eat peanut butter with the brand names Peter Pan and Wal-Mart's Great Value that was packaged under the product code 2111, AP said. This code is on the lid. The recall includes all peanut butter made at a single plant since May 2006. The Georgia plant is owned by ConAgra Foods Inc.
