Women’s Hospital On this date in 1855, the world’s first women’s hospital, the Woman’s Hospital of New York City, was opened. The hospital was founded by the Woman’s Hospital Association, which consisted of 30 women, who believed that there should be a hospital for the exclusive treatment of women. Today, women’s hospitals are located throughout the world.
