The Right Prescription Susan Hayhurst of St. Michael's, Maryland became the first woman pharmacist in the United States when she graduated on March 16, 1883, from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. She had already earned a medical degree from the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania, thus making her also the first woman physician to graduate from a pharmacy college.
