I have diabetes, and am looking to control my carb intake. I want to eat more fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy diet. But how do I know if I am over doing it and getting too many carb calories?

I suggest you make a nutrition appointment with a registered dietitian (RD). That’s the best way to ensure you’re not taking in too many calories from carbs.

I suggest you make a nutrition appointment with a registered dietitian (RD). That’s the best way to ensure you’re not taking in too many calories from carbs.

The RD can assess what’s best for your needs. He or she can determine the amount of calories and carbohydrates you need based on your lifestyle, physical activity, medicine you take, and any other medical issues.

Here are two signs that you may be overeating or taking in too many carbs: Weight gain and blood sugars not in control.
