She doesn't need to see a gynecologist unless she is having problems that her primary care doctor doesn’t feel comfortable handling. This might include vaginal discharge, irregular bleeding, or pelvic pain. Your daughter's regular doctors can also prescribe birth control, if that is something your daughter needs. (It’s important to discuss this!)

Your daughter should get her first Pap smear at age 21, no matter when sexual activity starts.
