What Do You See? Inkblots are often used in psychiatry to determine a person's personality type. What you perceive in the odd shapes can tell a lot about how you see your world. Ten standardized blots are shown to a subject one at a time, and his or her responses reveal how the subject may react to various stimuli and behave in certain situations. Dr. Hermann Rorschach, a Swiss psychiatrist, created the inkblot test, which was published in 1921. The Rorschach test has become a psychological icon and is still used today, although some question its validity. Dr. Rorschach was born on this date in 1884 and died in 1922.
