Channels Of Blood Johann Wepfer was the first to demonstrate the appearance of blood vessels by injecting them with colored liquids. What's amazing is that the Swiss anatomist made the demonstration in the 17th century. Wepfer, who was born on this date in 1620, was also the first to discover the connection between cerebral hemorrhage and apoplexy (a stroke). He detailed his anatomic observations of the body regarding apoplexy in a manuscript written in Latin and published in 1658. An early pathologist, Wepfer also refined the use of correlating case histories with postmortem findings.
