Answered questions from the past 2 years:
.
I went to the doctor for some white patches on my arms. My doctor told me I had tinea versicolor, a type of fungus that destroys the melanin in your skin. He prescribed anti-fungal shampoo to clear it up. But is there a way to make sure you don’t get it again? I’ve read that some people are more prone to getting it.
.
I can’t decide whether I should get a flu shot. I am two months pregnant. What are your thoughts?
.
It seems that my hair is getting thinner since menopause. I don’t notice any more hair on my brush over the past few years. Is this natural? Why does it happen? Any suggestions?
.
How do you count when a woman is ovulating? How do you count the days after your cycle?
.
What is considered the first day of a woman’s menstrual cycle? Is it the day some spotting has shown up, or the day of a regular flow?
.
If I take blood pressure medicines and don’t really need them, will it damage my heart?
.
I recently changed blood pressure medicines. I also take other medicine for high cholesterol. I notice my hair is getting thinner and falling out a lot more. Could the medicines be causing this? Are there specific drugs that have hair fall out as a common side effect?
.
I have some moles that I’ve considered removing for a while. I’ve heard that if a mole isn’t suspicious looking or causing any problems, you should leave it alone. Is this true?
.
I’ve heard a lot lately about probiotics and a healthy bowel. Should I be taking probiotics — or is it in the foods I eat? If not, is taking these in pill form safe?
.
I normally have a bowel movement about two times a week. But sometimes, the time between is even longer. When I do go, it seems like a lot. Or I’ll go a few times in one day. I eat a lot of fiber and exercise 5 times a week. Could I just have a large colon that takes a while to fill up?
