Seizures

Seizure
A seizure is a sudden, brief change in the normal electrical activity of the brain.
Generalized Seizures (Grand Mal Seizures)
Generalized seizures produce a physical convulsion as a result of an electrical abnormality in the brain.
Absence Seizures (Petit Mal Seizures)
Unlike a grand mal seizure, an absence seizure causes a loss of consciousness that is usually brief (30 seconds or less) and barely noticeable.
Partial Seizures (Focal Seizures)
When only a portion of the brain is involved in a seizure it is called a partial seizure or focal seizure.
