Racial And Ethnic Breakdown Of Women In The United States According to the 2010 U.S. Census, approximately 36.3 percent of the population currently belongs to a racial or ethnic minority group: American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian American, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. In the United States, there are 155.6 million women. Women make up 50.7% of the total population. Nearly 30% are racial and ethnic minorities. According to the 2010 census: - Slightly more than 20 million (20,705,000) women living in the United States were African-American, not of Hispanic origin.
- Hispanic females of any race numbered more than 23 million (23,362,000).
- Asian-American women account for 7,244,000 women living in the United States. When another racial group was included, the number rolse to 8,232,000 women.
- More than 284,000 women in the United States identified themselves as Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander alone in 2010. When the census included Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander in combination with another racial group, the number rose to almost 565,000 women.
- Slightly more than 1 million U.S. females (1,570,000) are American Indian/Alaska Native. When the census included American Indian/Alaska Native in combination with another racial group, the number rose to almost 2,499,000 women.
