Zestril (also known as lisinopril) is not available in a liquid form. Some drugs have a special coating on the tablet that either protects the active ingredients from the acid in the stomach or protects the stomach from the effects of the drug. Coated tablets cannot be crushed. The good news for you is that Zestril comes as an uncoated tablet. That means that it can safely be crushed.
Your local pharmacy should be able to supply you with a pill crusher. There are many different brands available that range in price up to about $10 to $12. The crushed tablet can be mixed with a small amount (3 or 4 ounces) of water or apple juice just before you want to take it. Do not make it in advance, however. The Zestril powder probably won't dissolve completely, so make sure you rinse out the glass to get the entire dose.
Not all drugs can be crushed, so it is important to speak with your pharmacist if you are planning to crush any of your other medications.
