The following factors can cause cataract in younger people:
- Radiation or blunt injury to the eyes
- Treatment during your chemotherapy with prednisone-like medications
- Cigarette smoking
- Some families have a history of cataract appearing at a younger age
- Diabetes
Actually there are no known environmental factors. There is an increased incidence among workers exposed to very high levels of sunlight, such as fishermen.
