When I think of the serving sizes suggested for a healthy diet, I don't think I can eat that much at a meal and be comfortable. What happens if children are encouraged to eat more than they are comfortable with … even healthy foods? I see this happening in the school setting, where food trays are overly filled with healthy food.

You are correct. Many of the serving sizes that we see today are too large. This is especially true with beverages and packaged foods such as chips, pretzels and other snack items.

It is best to eat slowly and listen to your hunger signals. Stop eating when you are starting to feel full. Many children and teenagers do best when they have small meals or snacks spread throughout the day.
