The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) operates this toll-free hotline, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hotline offers anonymous, confidential HIV/AIDS information to the American public. Trained information specialists answer questions about HIV infection and AIDS They also provide referrals to appropriate services, including clinics, hospitals, local hotlines, counseling and testing sites, legal services, health departments, support groups, educational organizations and service agencies throughout the United States.

The CDC National Prevention Information Network provides information and materials on HIV and AIDS to organizations involved in a variety of HIV/AIDS services. The services of trained reference specialists are available from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (EST), Monday through Friday, except holidays.

AIDSinfo is a central resource for current information on federally and privately funded clinical trials for AIDS patients and others infected with HIV. As the main dissemination point for federally approved HIV treatment and prevention guidelines, AIDSinfo provides information about the current treatment regimens for HIV infection and AIDS-related illnesses, including the prevention of HIV transmission from occupational exposure and mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy.
