Household Accidents

Every year, close to 30,000 deaths in the United States are caused by household accidents. As reported by the National Safety Council, this translates to a death every 18 minutes and a disabling injury every four seconds.

Many mishaps can be avoided with common sense and smart prevention. For example, you should keep household chemicals, medications, sharp instruments or easily swallowed objects out of the reach of children.

To be prepared for the most common at-home injuries, take time to learn basic first-aid information, as well as some possible danger signs. If the danger signs are noted, immediate medical attention is advised.
