Feeding Your Baby By the end of your pregnancy, you need to decide whether to breast-feed or use infant formula with your baby. Pediatricians and nutritionists strongly recommend that you breast-feed your baby for at least the first 4 to 6 months of life, and continue until 12 months, if at all possible. Breast-feeding takes time, patience and support, and some mothers cannot breast-feed their babies for medical reasons. Even if only done for a few weeks, breast-feeding is good for both mom and baby. If you choose not to breast-feed for medical or personal reasons, iron-fortified infant formulas are nutritionally complete. Formula is discussed below, but check with your doctor about which kind is best for your baby. Breast-Feeding Formula-Feeding
